Chapter 19 Internet Resources
1. Access the USPTO’s Assignment Database. Use the Advanced Search option.
a. Review the information recorded at Reel 29023, Frame 880. Who was
the original inventor? Who is the assignee? When was the assignment
executed and when was it recorded?
b. Review the information for U.S. Patent No. 9,143,468. Who is the
assignee? What is the title of the invention?
2. Access the USPTO database and search for “Published Complaints.” Review the
complaint filed by “Miano” in January 2013. Who was the complaint filed
against, and how much money was paid by Miano to the invention promoter?
[Note: Complaints filed against invention
promoters are becoming more difficult to locate through the
USPTO website. You may wish to ignore this question.]
3. Access the USPTO website and select the Official Gazette. Review the Official
Gazette notices for July 14, 2015. Review “Patents and Serial Numbers Available
for License or Sale.” What is the title of the first patent listed for sale or license?
4. Review Chapter 300 of the MPEP. How would you go about correcting an error
in a recorded assignment document?
