1. Access the website of the Forum (www.adrforum.com). Select “Domain
Disputes” and then “General Information” and then “Search Decisions.” Access
Case No. 1630753.
a. Who was the complainant?
The complainant was Twitter.
b. What domain name did the complainant object to?
Twitter objected to the registration of tiwtter.com.
c. What result was reached?
The domain name was transferred to Twitter.
2. Use ICANN’s “WHOIS” database and determine who is the owner or
administrative contact for the new gTLDs .pizza and .YouTube.
-.pizza is owned by Donuts Inc., and .YouTube is owned by Google.
3. Access WIPO’s website. Locate “Domain Name Disputes.” Search for the
following cases and identify the complainant for each, the domain objected to,
and the result reached for each:
a. D2013-1506
The complainant was “Ate My Heart, Inc.”/Stefani
Germanotta (Lady Gaga); the domain objected to was
ladygagadress.com; and the result was that the domain was
transferred to the complainant.
b. D2013-1979
The complainant was Paris Hilton; the domain objected to was
parishiltonpornvideos.com; the result was that the domain was
transferred to the complainant.
c. D2015-1152
The complainant was Facebook; the domain objected to was
Fracebook.com; the result was that the domain was
transferred to the complainant.
4. Use the Google search engine and conduct a search for “Macys.” What other
companies’ trademarks are displayed? Where are they displayed?
On the right side of the screen under “People Also Search For,” the
following companies and their marks are shown: J.C. Penney;
Nordstrom; Dillard’s; Kohl’s; and Bed, Bath, & Beyond.
5. Access Go Daddy’s site and do a search to determine if the domains
KevinSpacey.sucks and Oprah.sucks are available. What results are you given?
Both of those domains are taken (although several others using those
celebrities’ names are suggested as being available).
