1. Access WIPO’s website and locate its guide entitled “IP Audit – A ‘How to’
Guide.” How is an IP audit defined?
“An IP audit is defined as a systematic review of the IP assets owned,

2. Review IRS Publication 526. Review the information relating to the donation of
patents and other intellectual property. Are trade secrets included in the types of
information that one may donate to a qualified organization?
Yes. The IRS lists the following types of IP: patents, copyrights,
trademarks, trade names, trade secrets, know how, and software.


3. Access the website of the Securities and Exchange Commission SEC and review
company filings for E.I. Du Pont de Nemours and Company. Review the
company’s annual 10-K filing. Review its section relating to Intellectual Property.
How many patents does Du Pont own?
In the 10-K report filed on February 5, 2015, Du Pont stated that at
the end of 2014, it had more than 27,000 patents (and more than
16,500 patent applications).
