    INTRODUCTION

    You may notice that when talking about the transition from DOS-based operating systems to graphical user interface (GUI) systems, such as Windows, there is no mention of Apple computers, or Mac operating systems. This is intentional. While Macs became popular with universities and parts of the business world focused on graphic arts and related fields, law firms have almost exclusively gravitated to the personal computer (PC), which or course uses Windows. Thus, even if your preference is for Mac computers, be aware that in a law office environment you will be using a PC.
