1. If the brief is on pleading paper, the Table of Authorities should be on pleading paper.
  2. The document should be captioned:  Table of Authorities
  3. Each authority relied upon in the brief should be accounted for in the following order:

    1. Constitutions
    2. Statutes
    3. Cases
    4. Court Rules
    5. Administrative Rules or Regulations
    6. Secondary Authority
    7. Other forms of Authority
  4. Within each group, the material should be listed either in order of appearance, or alphabetically (cases should be listed alphabetically)
  5. Indicate each page on which an authority is mentioned.  For instance:

    A v. B, 121 Nev. 892, 335 P.2d 619 (1974)............................2,3,5

This indicates that the case A v. B was mentioned on pages 2, 3, and 5 of the brief

  6. Your assignment will most likely not have as many cites as the example provides.  If you have no Constitutional Cites, for instance, don't include a caption for Constitutions.  If you only cite cases in your brief, the only authority caption you will have is for Cases.
