There are no exact answers to the following, but here are some suggestions.

A spousal abuse incident

Pre-Event: When they got married, or when they met
Event: The first indication of hostilities
Post-Event: When the couple is no longer in physical proximity

 

A drunk driving accident

Pre-Event: When the person started drinking
Event: When the person got in the car
Post-Event: When the car came to a rest after the accident

 

A landlord/tenant dispute where the tenant refuses to pay rent until the plumbing is repaired

Pre-Event: When the tenant moved in to the building
Event: When the plumbing went out
Post-Event: The event may still be continuing
