Corpus Juris Secundum (C.J.S.) C.J.S. is the national legal encyclopedia by West Publishing Company. As with all legal encyclopedias, the material is arranged topically. Each topic is commented upon, and within the commentary, small raised numbers appear, referring to footnotes. The footnotes, in turn, refer to other forms of authority, usually cases and statutes. The primary purpose of C.J.S. is to lead to primary authority. C.J.S. is considered secondary authority. |
